PayPal for Android now lets users cash checks on the go

Published on May 19, 2011

PayPal has updated their popular Android app, adding the ability for users of Android devices to fund their accounts by taking a picture of a paper check.

The company originally added the feature to its iPhone application way back in October of 2010. Only now, however, through thousands of requests by Android enthusisasts, did PayPal finally add the feature to Android smartphones.

With the PayPal update, users can take a photograph of the front and back of the check and it will be deposited into their PayPal account within 15 days. Many users of this feature use it as a go between so they do not have to go to the bank.

Another big part of this update is the ability to move the application to the SD card. This is a big deal to users who have a great deal of apps on their phone. It was also a heavily requested feature.

The updated PayPal for Android app is now available for download in the Android Market.
