Research In Motion announced that it plans to bring the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES), its mobile device security and management service to both Android and iOS. Detailed at BlackBerry World 2011, the Canadian company is looking to expand the portfolio of devices BES currently supports.
A new web-based manager is being designed to give IT administrators a simple way to provide updates and manage devices. The manager will also allow for full inventory and security for Android and iOS devices. From everything written in the press release, the new BES service seems excellent.
While it is not known, certain features are expected to remain exclusive to BlackBerry devices because certain capabilities are only built into the design of a device’s operating system. More on this to come soon, hopefully.
RIM's new BES solution should be available later this year.
