Google is reportedly testing a new service called "Google Music" internally

Published on Mar 25, 2011

CNET is reporting that Google has begun testing Google Music internally. Multiple employees of the Big G have begn a process which is commonly referred to as "dogfooding" in which employees try out a new service or product. No word yet on how the testing is going, but this may be an indication that some sort of launch is coming.

Apparently, a version which leaked back on XDA-Developers a few weeks ago was in fact a working version of Google Music that was being tested, "several unnamed sources" told CNET. The final version, however, could be quite a bit different than the leaked copy.

The actual launch, which was intended to be late 2010, then South by Southwest, was and currently is delayed by long negotiations with record labels. No word on how long these could drag out, but it could be months.

Honestly, at this point, I am more than a little cynical about this "Google Music," so despite this report, I'll believe when I see it.
