Mobile broadband is kinda like a big deal

Mobile broadband is a technology that is in high demand, with the latest report from Ericsson supporting that claim. According to the report in 2010 mobile broadband subscriptions hit 500 million globally.

Ericsson claims that number will double in 2011 alone, reaching the one billion total subscription mark during that time. The report states that 400 million of the new subscriptions will be in the Asia Pacific region, with North America and Western Europe following with 200 million subscriptions each.

The growth is attributed to the popularity of smart phones, tablets and wireless broadband adapters. With 4G networks providing faster speeds for users, mobile broadband is nowhere near leveling off, and will continue to see rapid growth.

Ericsson estimates in 2015 there will be over 3.8 billion subscriptions, with the majority relying on HSPA, CDMA and LTE networks.
