T-Mobile claims the largest "4G" network in the US

Published on Nov 3, 2010

The fact that T-Mobile continues to refer to its HSPA+ network as "4G" is irksome when you consider that only LTE and WiMAX technically qualify for the moniker - but buzzwords probably don't mean much to consumers when they are achieving speeds up to 21Mbps (with upgrades to 42, 84 and even 168Mbps in the works).

So, with that in mind, T-Mobile has begun touting that it has the nation's largest 4G network - covering 75 markets and roughly 200 million people with the addition of Chicago, IL; Colorado Springs, CO; Ft. Wayne, IN; Louisville, KY; Raleigh-Durham, NC,;and Wilmington, NC to the fold.

Naturally, the timing of the announcement is just right for customers to take advantage of the just released myTouch 4G , with a front-facing camera, HD video recording, a 1GHz processor and Android 2.2 on board.
