Sharp looks to deliver on earlier promises of a mobile device with glasses-free 3D display and camera
Sharp shows off its 3D-savvy side

About a month ago, we told you that Sharp had big plans with its eyes set on bringing glasses-free 3D displays and cameras to mobile devices in 2010.
Today, Sharp is showing off a prototype device that satisfies that promise in spectacularly mediocre form.
With the same screen technology as the new Nintendo 3DS, the 800 x 480 resolution 3.7-inch display shows off 3D imagery at a still-impressive 400 x 480 resolution.
The clarity may not be exceptional, according to Engadget in its hands-on with the device, but it is 3D, which is more than any other mobile device can really say.
The HDMI-out purportedly works rather well also, even with the mobile camera's limitations, throwing live 3D footage up on a more-familiar full-size 3D TV.
No word on availability or pricing, but with prototypes being shown off in early September, we'd say a 2010 rollout is still very possible.
