Google brings VoIP to Gmail

When Google acquired VoIP company Gizmo5 last year, many assumed it was only a matter of time before the service was fully integrated into Google Voice.
The fruits of that partnership seem to be on the brink of being realized as CNET reports that Google is currently testing a VoIP service that will work inside your Gmail inbox from the Chat window - allowing free calls to the U.S. and Canada as well as cheap international calls.
However, it is not clear whether it is an extension of Google Voice or another product entirely. According to CNET, users of the new service are not required to have a Google Voice account.
Either way, Google is keeping quiet for now, saying only that it is "always testing new features and products, but we have nothing specific to announce right now."
