In a very uncharacteristic move, Apple will hold a press conference tomorrow, June 16, in order to address the growing public concern surrounding its iPhone 4.
The iPhone 4, which launched last month, has a poor (in reality, faulty) antenna design. When touched in certain spots, the antenna design can cause the phone to lose signal and drop calls.
Steve Jobs is expected to speak to the few bloggers and journalists who were invited.
While some pundits expect a full-fledged recall to be announced tomorrow, this scenario is highly unlikely.
Apple may choose to take some sort of responsibility for the flaw, and it may offer a solution that costs the company a minimal amount of time and effort.
A recall would be costly and potentially damaging to Apple's reputation.
It is rumored that Apple has made some changes to the manufacturing process, possibly adding a coating to the metal antennas that surround the iPhone 4 case. According to these rumors, Apple will quietly be replacing early iPhone 4 models with these new versions at no cost.
This scenario, if true, is as close to a recall as Apple is expected to get.
