Nokia takes legal action against Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin

Nokia has apparently reached its boiling point as it enlists the help of Russian authorities to recover stolen property

Nokia vs Eldar
Nokia finally takes action against Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin after several years and countless leaks

Published on Jul 7, 2010

Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin is known for two things: getting his hands on smartphones long before they are announced, and sharing his opinions freely.

Nokia -- frequently the target of leaks and criticism from Murtazin -- has finally decided to take action against the blogger and has enlisted the help of Russian authorities in an effort to recover what the company calls "all unauthorized Nokia property".

By this, we assume Nokia is referring to the bevy of smartphone prototypes Murtazin has written about on his site Mobile-review.com.

While we only have one side of the story so far, Nokia's official statement is that the company has made an effort to recover its stolen property by contacting Murtazin directly, but its efforts have been ignored.

As a result, authorities in Russia have been contacted to assist Nokia in reclaiming its property.

Nokia also goes on to leave the door open with regards to future legal actions the company might take.

We’re not able to comment on what would or would not happen if the unauthorised property were returned. It would be inappropriate to speculate on future actions at this stage. However, you can be sure that we are prepared to take all appropriate and legal measures to protect our intellectual property. We believe every individual or organization has the right to protect itself.

While Murtazin has not yet responded on his blog, you can follow his Twitter stream for his thoughts on the matter.
