Purported images of OS 6.0 reveal a modern take on the BlackBerry OS
Supposed screen shots of BlackBerry OS 6.0 reveal widgets, widgets and more widgets

Let us just start by saying that the BlackBerrys of the world just started seeing official OS 5.0 variations in October and November of last year. There hasn't even been a leaked or hybrid OS built that bears the 5.1 name yet, and the 4.x series of OS's took forever and a day to get through.
All that said, we do have some interesting visuals here posted very early this morning over on BB Leaks. Said to be the "first" images of BlackBerry OS 6.0, these shots depict a very modern look, while still retaining that same BlackBerry, um, flair? No self-respecting smartphone these days is complete without widgets it seems, and it would appear they are making their BlackBerry debut here.
Back in February, RIM held an open webinar to discuss the concepts and procedures of building what it calls "Super Apps". In that webinar, a nonchalant shot of a Storm2 running what appeared to be an updated OS popped up on one of the presentation slides. This of course sparked a lot of buzz about the possibility of it being a teasing shot of OS 6.0.
We love the direction these screen shots take, whether or not they end up being the real deal, but we do have one major issue: by the time the OS finally reaches market, the concepts outlined could already be very dated. Some forward thinking would be nice, rather than a simple game of catch up.
