Verizon Wireless' HTC Incredible may launch sometime in March

Published on Mar 18, 2010

It's been caught in numerous pictures and even handled on video, but now HTC Incredible hopefuls may just see the Sense UI-packing Android 2.1 device in their local Verizon Wireless stores as soon as two week from now, Daily Tech reports.

While we can't say for certain whether or not we're confident in this release date whole-heartedly, it would certainly be good timing. As of yesterday, each of the four major U.S. carriers has officially been confirmed as a destination for Google's Nexus One. In fact, the only carrier not bragging about the device's impending launch -- or currently supporting the handset -- is the one that was specifically named from day one as an upcoming provider -- Verizon Wireless.

Just two days ago, out of nowhere, Google began selling an AT&T-compatible version of its "superphone" from its site. Sure, we knew it was in the works, but the arrival from left field caught everyone off guard. Then yesterday, Sprint officially announced the device's destiny on its airwaves.

With every major carrier bringing the 5 megapixel camera-touting, stock Android 2.1-powered Nexus One, it would definitely be an interesting move for Verizon Wireless to laugh in the proverbial face with the launch of a superphone of it's own -- even before the Spring release of its own Nexus One model.

Verizon Wireless will surely still see its own network-compatible version of the Nexus One launch at some point, but the hopes that a Verizon-ready Google phone might help bolster the Nexus One's lackluster sales to date would certainly be diminished by an Incredible launch this month.
