Sprint announces the arrival of ESPN Mobile TV for Sprint TV subscribers
Published on Mar 12, 2010
We all remember ESPN's miserable failure of an MVNO venture with Sprint. The trusty old Sanyo 9000 all done up in ESPN red and black wasn't quite enough to really excite enough people, apparently, and Disney was forced to drop the axe on the little side-job.
As it turns out, Sprint and ESPN haven't really strayed too far from each other since then. In fact, Sprint today announced that starting immediately, Sprint TV subscribers will now find ESPN Mobile TV right on their devices, ready for their viewing pleasure.
Sprint and ESPN are promising a pretty impressive offering, truth be told. Here are some highlights in terms of content:
- 23 Live Men's NCAA Basketball Games (including Conference Championship games)
- 19 Live Women's NCAA Basketball Championship Games
- 9 NBA Playoff Games
- 15 Regular Season NBA Games
- 30 Live NBA Fastbreak Shows
- 10 Regular Season MLB Games
- 50 Live Baseball Tonight Studio Shows
- 3 College Football Spring games
- 3 Live Friday Night Fights
- 3 Live NCAA Hockey Championship Games
- 5 Live MLS Matches
Not too shabby an offering for the company who just lost NFL Mobile to Verizon Wireless, and this is just through April. There are supposed to be over 800 live events lined up just for the rest of this year, and it should be available to just about any Sprint device that supports Sprint TV (read: all of them).
