Motorola is rumored to be working on an Android 2.1 update for the DROID that features a multitouch Web browser, Google Goggles, and news and weather widgets

Good news for DROID owners who have buyer's remorse in the wake of Google's release of the Nexus One -- Engadget claims that Verizon is currently testing an Android 2.1 update similar to the version released for the Nexus One last week.
New features rumored to be available in the update include:
- Multitouch Web browsing
- Pre-loaded Google Goggles app that allows you to use pictures to search the Web
- News and weather widgets
- Same home screen look as 2.0.1, with added pull-up drawer tab
- No active wallpapers
So no 3D grid of apps or active wallpapers, but the update should still help DROID owners feel a little better about not having a Nexus One (even though the Nexus One is still around twice as powerful). Of course, the update still has to get through the testing phase before it gets rolled out -- and no timetable has been set for its release.
