Talk of a hybrid BlackBerry handset, a new RIM device that would include both a touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard, has resurfaced yet again.
The forthcoming handset will essentially be a BlackBerry Bold 9700 with a SurePress touchscreen, according to the report. Rumors of a handset in this style date back as far as early 2007, so apparently the formula is keep saying it until it actually happens.
This time around, Newcrest analyst Chris Umiastowski is the one claiming inside knowledge, according to a Reuters report. Umiastowski also recaps a few more tidbits he spent the morning digging up from various BlackBerry insider blogs, including notes on the 3G Pearl 9100, RIM's upcoming Webkit-based browser and the BlackBerry Tour sequel due out later this half.
Of course we would all love a QWERTY/SurePress hybrid BlackBerry -- and sure, a late 2010 release could happen -- but based on the fact that Umiastowski had nothing to say that hasn't already been beaten to death on every BlackBerry blog out there, we wouldn't put much faith in his predictions.
