After what seemed like months of waiting, Occipital has finally released 360 Panorama for Android onto the Android Market. Much like the iOS version, the Android variant is as easy as pie, letting users just tap a button and pan to create a great photo.
For years, iOS users have grown quite accustomed to superb photo apps, but 360 Panorama is the first real-time panoramic photo capture app for Android. All others require some sort of manual capturing of photos which almost always lessens the quality.
The Android version is also almost exactly the same as the older iOS app, but there are a couple of key differences. For starters, Android users get one new feature that hasn't made its way to the iPhone yet: an in-app list of saved photographs. Also, the Android app doesn't have access to the gyroscope just yet, so it’s not recommended that you pan the camera against blank, solid surfaces.
Users who already have a 360 Panorama account can still use it on their Android handsets, allowing them to upload and store photos in the cloud. Eventually, Occipital plans to give users access to the images across devices, but not yet.
For those readers curious about the app, I can tell yout from testing it earlier today that it takes great photos and is very easy to use. Some images were blurry, but I am chalking that up to my camera, and not the app. Definitely worth a try.
That being said, if you're a total camera geek like me, you will certainly appreciate the app. Quite fun and very addicting.
If you want to give 360 Panorama for Android a try, you can download the app in the Android Market. Good luck photogs!
