iOS 5.0.2 update could arrive by the end of next week

Apple's second attempt to eliminate iOS 5 battery life issues could come as early as next week - iOS 5.1 to follow by the end of the year

A rumor suggests that Apple will be ready to push out iOS 5.0.2 by the end of next week.

Once again, the focus will be on trying to eliminate the battery life issues that have plauged iOS 5 - especially on the iPhone 4S. This will be Apple's second attempt to fix this pesky bug after many reported that the iOS 5.0.1 update actually made the problem worse

The news comes via German site Macerkopf.de citing an Apple software engineer as the source.

The site also notes that iOS 5.1 is in the works for the end of 2011 or early 2012, AppleInsider reports.

Supposedly iOS 5.1 will bring "many changes" to Siri's brain - including the ability to use voice commands to take photos, record videos, and enabling and disabling Bluetooth / Wi-Fi.

Again, this is only a rumor, but it's pretty much a given that Apple will roll out iOS 5.0.2 sooner rather than later to stem the tide of disgruntled customers. It's also fairly safe to say that the first major upgrade to iOS 5.1 will include updates to Siri, as the feature is the major selling point of the iPhone 4S.

Here's hoping that Twitter and Facebook integration are among those upgrades. Would love it if Siri read emails too, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
