TechCrunch is reporting that Amazon will reveal its Android-powered “Kindle Fire” tablet on Wednesday during a press event in New York City.
Set to ship sometime in November, the device is said to look much like RIM's BlackBerry PlayBook. MG Siegler of TechCrunch in fact says it will be much better than the PlayBook and the UI will be very fluid and easy to use.
While recent leaks have created a lot of buzz about the potential tablet, TechCrunch indicates the tablet might not be that exciting. Reportedly the Kindle Fire is “pretty poor” and was rushed out the door so that Amazon had a product on store shelves for the holiday season.
Gdgt also reports today that the Kindle Fire is powered by a TI dual-core OMAP chip but the processor speed is still unclear. Amazon is expected to price the device between $250 and $300. An exact price, however, is still unknown.
We here at KYC will be covering the press conference on Wednesday, so stay tuned for more details.
