RIM confirms that price cuts are coming to the BlackBerry PlayBook
RIM Co-CEO Jim Balsillie has confirmed that price cuts are in the works to boost sales of the BlackBerry PlayBook

Co-CEO Jim Balsillie has confirmed that RIM will attempt to boost sales on the flagging BlackBerry PlayBook with rebates and an incentive program for enterprise sales.
The news comes after a dismal Q2 earnings call where it was revealed that RIM fell far short of Wall Street's PlayBook expectations. They had hoped for 700,00 units, but got only 200,000, BGR reports.
Details on how much the BlackBerry PlayBook will be discounted and when it might were not revealed, but I wouldn't go expecting an HP Touchpad-esque bargain.
The problem is that a massive discount is probably the PlayBook's only hope at this point.
If I'm honest, it looks like the only tablet that really stands a chance of competing with the iPad at the moment is the one set to be released this November from Amazon.
Let's face it, an Android tablet for $250 with Amazon Prime bundled in would be hard to beat. Unlike RIM, Amazon realizes that it isn't going to gain ground in the market by trying to go toe-to-toe with Apple using a similar approach.
