The HTC HD2 has a digital compass that can be used to navigate to a destination on Google Maps, using your GPS.
To set up and use the HTC HD2 as a compass, follow these instructions:
How to set up your HTC HD2's compass
- On the Home screen, select Start - Tools - Digital Compass
- Hold your phone parallel to the ground with the top of the phone facing away from you
- Use the pointer to determine your direction. The compass value at the upper end of the pointer shows the direction you are facing, while the current direction displayed at the top of the screen tells you the precise compass value.
How to navigate to a destination using the compass
- On the Home screen, select Start > Tools > Digital Compass
- Tap Destination at the bottom of the screen to open Google Maps.
- Tap and hold a destination on the map
- Digital Compass will automatically activate your phone's GPS. When your GPS location is found, the distance to your destination is shown under the compass. The green dot on the compass bezel indicates the direction of your destination
- Use the direction of the green dot as a reference to help you find your destination. The displayed distance decreases as you get closer to your destination
