iPhone and iTunes wireless sync over Wi-Fi

Published on Feb 13, 2012

Apple's iOS is a tremendous mobile platform that offers a huge number of features, and one of our favourites is Wi-Fi sync, a function which allows you to sync your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch with your iTunes library without having to connect your device to your computer.

To get this function up and running simply follow our step-by-step guide:

  • Connect your device to your PC or Mac using the cable supplied
  • Open iTunes (if it doesn't open itself)
  • Select your device from the menu on the left (e.g. Garfield's iPhone)
  • Click on the 'Summary' tab at the top of the window
  • Scroll down until you see a checkbox marked 'Sync with this iPhone/iPad/iPod over Wi-Fi' and tick it
  • Pick up your device
  • Tap on 'Settings'
  • Tap on 'General'
  • Choose the computer you used to set-up Wi-Fi sync
  • Tap 'Sync Now'

That's it! If you've followed the steps correctly then your device should sync with your iTunes automatically, as long as you're plugged into a power source, such as a dock or main charger, and connected to your home Wi-Fi network.
