Flatulence is a wonderful thing. This is mainly true if you're male and/or under the age of 16.

It's the the most endearing department of potty humor and, even if you don't agree with any of the above, something that we all succumb to at some point.

Even Her Majesty the Queen has to let out a bottom burp from time to time, and if that doesn't make it a right and true pastime, then we just don't know what does.

iFart Mobile for the iPhone and iPod Touch is an application that delivers pre-recorded examples of the fine art of flatulence. No such an app would be finished without a little production value and this app has done itself proud in that department.

A sort of industrial angle has been taken to the interface design which looks almost post-apocalyptic and is very well drawn. The quintessential big red button makes an appearance with the words 'fart now' emblazoned boldly in the center. Selecting a prootle of your choice from the scroll wheel below and pushing the button to make the app sound off.

The selection of farts is both versatile and extensive. Even the most experienced connoisseurs of wind-passing should find something here to get their juices flowing. The names are quite creative too and include, 'Jack the Ripper', 'Bye Granny', 'Bombardier' and 'Fly By'.

The latter of these was our particular favorite. If you think you can do better then you can record your own farts for later consumption. Furthermore, you can buy fart packs to extend your repertoire of rear-end music.

Once you've had your fill of farts there is a few interesting features to check out. The security fart feature gives you five seconds to put you iPhone or iPod Touch on a flat surface. The next time your device is moved, iFart Mobile will let one rip right into the ears of an unsuspecting potential thief.

Just opposite the security fart feature is the sneak attack feature. This lets you set a countdown timer which will then play a bum-whistle when the timer reaches zero, ideal for if there is someone around and you just need them to hold your phone for a second.

This latest version of the 'World's number 1 fart simulator now adds a social networking feature: Fart Buddies. You'll be glad to hear that you can transmit your farts over the internet to your mates to enjoy on their iPhones. The future of human communication, no doubt.

So there's no doubt that iFart Mobile is one of most immature and pointless apps in the App Store. However, the execution is exemplary and the developers have done a great job on delivering what the title of the app promises. This one is definitely worth a download for the flatulence humor-inclined.
