We review Dropbox for Android, a file sharing and synchronization app that can make your life a little easier
Published on May 27, 2010
It’s rare that an app comes along and makes me say,“Wow”. However, Dropbox has this effect on me every time I use it.
Have you ever had a picture on your phone you want to use for something on your PC? How about a file on your phone you’d like to easily access online? Dropbox makes these things and more possible right from your Android phone.
You start by creating an account with Dropbox, which can be done through the app itself. After that, you can choose to install the app on your PC, or you can just use the Web space provided, which is seamlessly linked for your convenience.
For starters, you get 2GB of storage but you can upgrade for a fee (of course!). The app allows you to grab files from your phone and upload them, while also syncing them to your PC.
It all sounded great to me in theory, so I gave it a spin.

I was not disappointed in the slightest.
I actually find this process of syncing pictures to my phone so much faster than uploading to Picasa, then downloading them from the Picasa site or waiting for the client to sync. That alone gives me a reason to keep it on my phone.
Additionally, I love how anything I drop in the Dropbox folder on my desktop syncs automatically to my phone. Now it’s easier than ever to move MP3 files over to my phone to make ringtones, add a picture to my gallery to take with me to a friend or family member’s house, or just have anything I’m working on handy.
This is file sharing made super easy, and I love it.
